Mono Lake’s shoreline is protected. Campers need to contact the rangers at the Mono Basin Scenic Area Visitor Center to find out where dispersed camping is permitted at Mono Lake at any given time. Camping is not allowed on the Mono Lake shoreline below the historic 1941 elevation of the lake, which is 6,417 feet. Other camping options are in nearby locations.
